Designed to reflect a renaissance of Islamic art defined by precision, geometry, and symmetry, these designs were revised by our partner, Bülent Özozan, in the 1990s to elevate contemporary interiors.
Using rare Turkish wool and 100% vegetable dyes, artisans weave only four or five colours together to give a surprising depth and colour-range that appears more complex.
These originals will never be remade, establishing them as cultural collection pieces that are true one-offs.

The Art of Woven legends
The Industrial Revolution reshaped carpet weaving, separating the maker from the materials and the process from artistic intention. By the early twentieth century, centuries-old traditions—rooted in natural dyes, hand-spun wool, and the weaver’s creative judgment—were largely replaced by factory-style production focused on uniformity rather than expression.
True carpet weaving, however, has always been a collaborative art. From the careful handling of raw wool to the dyeing of yarn and the weaver’s interpretation of design, each step contributes to a living, responsive work—one shaped by knowledge, touch, and experience rather than by rigid programs.
n recent decades, a quiet revival has made it possible once again to create contemporary handmade carpets equal to the finest historic examples. Collectors and designers can now find works that honor the depth, complexity, and soul of antique carpets while speaking to modern spaces.
Woven Legends stands at the forefront of this renaissance. Since 1982, through the revival of natural dyeing and the hand spinning of indigenous wools, their work has reconnected weaving to its origins—producing carpets that are not only among the finest of today, but among the most accomplished woven in the past century.
